"MILCK is shaping the future by using her music to inspire global movements for equality and empowerment." - Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad, for Elle UK's "40 Women of Hope" series.

Connie K Lim's artist monicker is MILCK. For singer and multi-instrumentalist MILCK, music is a sanctuary. In her words, “Music is the one place where I can simply be me. When I’m singing my lyrics, I don’t have to be feminine enough, masculine enough, American enough, or Asian enough—I can just be a soul that yearns to be free.”

“Behind the songs I write are thousands of wise voices that guide me. One particular text that I continue to return to is the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.”

MILCK’s life took a 180 degree turn after Alma Har'el's cell phone video of her street performance of her song “Quiet” with a choir of 25 strangers at the 2017 Women’s March accumulated 8 million views in two days. As the video was going viral, MILCK wanted to democratize the creative opportunity, and uploaded the sheet music for free download on Google Drive. Soon after, choirs from all around the world, from the US to Sweden to Ghana, were flashmobbing her harmony arrangements on the streets.

“Quiet” was named Billboard’s #1 protest song of the year, and earned distinction as part of NPR’s “American Anthem” series. Harper Bazaar has named it one of the top feminist anthems of all time. And in 2018, MILCK sang "Quiet" on the main stage of The Women's March in New York City, where Yoko Ono accompanied her onstage, holding a sign saying "Imagine Peace." To this day, this is MILCK's most treasured memory.

In addition to writing songs for movies, tv shows, and documentaries, MILCK has collaborated with artists such as John Legend, Natasha Bedingfield, Phillipa Soo, Ani DiFranco, Aloe Blacc, and LeAnn Rimes to create songs rooted in hope, love, and resilience.

Beyond the recording industry, MILCK is expanding her creative reach into musical theater, advocacy, and mentorship. MILCK has been slotted as an official spokesperson for ACLU, where her song "Sisters of Winter (ft. Raye Zaragoza)" will be used on the national ACLU campaign series.
